Just wondering what you all consider a good (or acceptable) daily Unique visitor rate to your site to be?

100?
250?
500?
1000+?

It totally depends on your niche.

One site of mine with 200 unique visitors a day makes more than a site of mine with 2000 unique visitors a day, then an ecommerce site of mine with 100 uniques a day makes more than both combined.

Wow, that's an eye opener. So having a product, preferably something that is unique, is the way to go?

Ecommerce sites are harder to promote than content site (link building is much harder) and they have less content than content sites so less index pages so less brute force SEO.

However, they make far more per visitor than content sites. Lets say you get a 2% conversion rate, and lets say you make $20 per sale in profit on average. So every 100 visitors you're making $40. So you're making $400 for every 1000 visitors, or a unique eCPM of $400. Hard to match that with a content site.

However, it is really hard to get traffic for an ecommerce site. So there is definitely a tradeoff.

This is also why I recommend running complimentary content and ecommerce sites. Your content site gets the traffic, your ecommerce site makes the money. Couple articles on this site about that.

If you have something to sell... And your visitors come to try it then... you start focusing on conversion in addition to visitor counts :)
