It's completely dependent on the way you layout your site. In some cases a leaderboard will work better than a skyscraper. It's just a matter of trying to predict where users will likely be looking for something to click.

I would say generally for longer pages a skyscraper and for a shorter page use a leaderboard. But if you have some navigational features at the top of a page that the user will naturally scroll back to the top to use, a leaderboard may be better regardless.

I can't really tell as i'm mostly using skyscrapers, but also using a few leaderboard ads.

I believe skys end up with a slightly higher CPM than leaderboards.
