Sometimes the best laugh of the day can come when AdSense decides what ads to place with a new article and today was no exception. I just published a new article on prairie dogs (http://environmentalchemistry.com/yogi/environmental/200703prairiedogs.html) and the raging debate about whether they are a threatened species or a public health menace. I figured it might have some interesting ads, but I had no idea just how interesting. Among the AdSense ads that got juxtaposed on the page were an ad about "endangered species", "trophy prairie dog hunts", keeping prairie dogs as pets and a prairie dog supply store.
The trophy prairie dog hunt stood out as something that was rich pickings for a "Monte Python" skit. Some how trophy hunting and prairie dogs just seem to be an oxymoron. I can see some burly hunter hauling in their prairie dog kill to their local taxidermist now.
Keeping them as pets seems equally weird. I mean they are cute and everything, but come on, they are 1) a wild animal and 2) a rodent. This just doesn't seem like the brightest idea for a pet.
Anyways, I've attached a screen capture of the ad for your amusement.
