Adsense pay for no clicks?

Sometimes when the Adsense daily amount resets for the following day, I find myself with 1 cent but no one clicked an ad yet. Today right after the reset, I find I got 3 cents without a click. I'm not complaining, since this is a seemingly good thing, but can someone explain this to me?

Yup most image ads, and all those ads with big text you see on this site, are CPM.
