DirectNIC Question

I registered a domain that I want in .net, .org, and .us when I bought my first hosting account about ten mintues ago (Hooray for me!).

When I did a directNIC search, the dotcom was not available, but if I type it into my browser it has the same directNIC placeholder page as all the rest of them. Does that mean it's available, but DirectNIC just doesn't want to give it away right now? I didn't see a link on the placeholder page to buy the domain, and I just want to know if there's someway I can buy it. (I actually had this domain through a free registrar about 8 years ago.)

Could just mean that it has been bought but just parked at the registrar.

Did you do a whois seartch on it?

Ah... Now I see. Before all I saw was the registrar. Some dude in Louisiana has it, and has since 2002. I guess if it gets that important to me I can track him down and make an offer. But I'm a tightwad so I probably won't. :)
