Wondering what people had to say for a site like wisegeek.com...thinking about making something similar

Well they are displaying premium ad units so my guess would be yes, very successful.

It basically means you can change the color, font, size, etc. Take a look at the ads here: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-hvds.htm

I think you need to do 20,000,000 impressions a month to get in, but I could be wrong.

I see. I guess I just didn't go far enough into the site. I didn't see any ads on the homepage so I was confused.

Alexa isnt everything, but they have a 6,000 alexa ranking. I'd say thats successful. It wouldnt be inflated either like webmaster sites which always have high Alexa rankings.
