Hi,

I am wondering why do some webmasters talk about there successes or help out other webmasters? I mean I am not earning the most amount and might be a bit nieve but if I was making the kind of money some of these guys are making I sure as anything wouldn't tell.

I don't want competition and don't want to have to write about it all the time. I would be content earning $XXX,XXX a year. I think Jon is definatley going the right way about it, only just starting to write about it when his success is way beyond what us mortals think of as normal.

From what I see is that they are making blogs and what not to make a quick buck from saying, "Hey I earn $XXX a day and I can email designers for layouts." Doesn't scream webmaster or anything to me, yet they are still making a nice amount from there blog.

I might be getting ahead of myself, but can you just give me an insight into your minds as to why you guys write about how to make such and such amount?

Theres your answer right there

Jon made a good comment in his recent blog entry, along the line "dont feed off other webmasters find another niche" I think that makes a lot of sense

I think it's that they know that it most likely will be found out anyways. It's just a matter of time. Also, they don't mind the competition; they're earning money now, and know how to do it again.

Once in a while one'll do something to screw himself outta some money, I'm sure that Nintendo will be along to say that it's stupid to talk any minute now.

Why not share information? Unless you're hiding some miracle coporate secrets sharing is always good. Forums would be nothing if no one offered tips and guidance. I'm not saying write a book about something in particular but how many times have you needed tips when others have helped ;)

Yes, very true; you can't expect it to be a one-way street and be successful: people helped you get to where you are, so you should do the same.
