Man incka, you sound like you're freaking out. Relax buddy! There's other things to sell!

If it consoles you, Segways are illegal in NYC, and most people in crowded urban areas do not want them on their streets.

Watch that "E-Bow" video on your site. A nice, calming influence. Love that video.

Probably not much considering the commission's only 10%

The $899 ones... 10% = $89.90

$89.90 -
$10.00
______
$79.90 down the drain...

Good point. But without Amazon's Web Servies, I wouldn't be able to list Amazon's entire catelog of portable DVD players, and thus I wouldn't have a site.

If I had to use a different affiliate program, it would be a maintenance nightmare of creating individual links, updating pricing info, description, reviews, etc... Something I most certainly do not want to do.

With AWS, every piece of data for each and every product is automated. As long as the xml feed is up, I'm set (...that's another story entirely).

Besides the DVD players, I'm hoping my users will spend a bit on DVDs and perhaps sign up for an online rental service. Those two categories I do get a fair commission.

I'll let you know how it goes.

(Amazon's Web Services and their affiliate program are different entities, let me know if you want me to clarify.)

Open letter to Amazon:

We, the fine webmasters of this world, beseth you to cease your outragously low limit upon the maximum commition one can gather using your affiliate programs.

Signed [Insert your name and several other webmasters you know's names here]

I would wager that 10% commish for some of their high-ticket items it just not feasible. Amazon is in Wal Mart mode of turbo low prices and turbo lean margins.

Not that'd I'd be crying if they raised their commission limit ;)

After thinking about it...

Amazon's prices are low already, some products will lose them money if they give 10% to an affiliate.

Some are extuationaly high... $14 for a brand new single that was in the top 10 in the UK and no.1 in Isreal from a US band... No prizes guessing which...

Big ticket items.

If they want to jack up prices on music and someone buys it on your site, I doubt you'll hit the commish ceiling. :)

The problem was you could get it for £2 from HMV...

Mike

Well it's hassle free, usually takes me literally two minutes to make an order.

Just over a year ago I bought Kevin Yank's first book on PHP and MySQL - it was here within a week and that was from the US.

IMHO, Amazon is the best retailer out there, and that cancels out it's poor commission rates.

HMV also have one click ordering and it mostly arrives the day after I order it...

If I order 4:30 PM monday it will arrive tuesday morning.
