I have a niche but where is the money?

Hi guys,
I have found a niche that is of interest to me, a particular point in history. Now the positives to this is, it is in the past so I don't need to constantly update it, it is of interest to me so I won't lose motivation instantly, the artwork from the period is famous and is for sale on allposters.

Where the doubt comes in to mind is, where is there money to be made in this? I had so many doubts that I crossed the idea off my list until I saw Chris' Artist biography website. Is there really money to be made in sites of an educational genre? Is there enough to warrant me building a site around it?

What are your thoughts guys?

It depends on search volume and product value (The cost of the posters or whatever)

thanks for the quick response. I have checked, and also checked out the competition. I think it would be pretty easy to get a good ranking and the keyword selector tool is showing

US: 16179
UK: 1410

Any further thoughts based on this?

Have you checked to see the average CPC according to overture?

It's not by any stretch of the imagination an accurate judge of what you will reveive per click, but it can give you a fiarly good indication of what the market is worth...

The term knitting for instance (Not the highest value market of course) has a maximum bid of 33c per click.

The term mortgage on the other hand, has a maximum bid of $8 per click...

As an FYI, allposters affiliate program seem to give out 30% on each transaction...

My largest site (not the art history one) is educational in nature, and yes, it earns money (it also has a ton of traffic).

Your eCPM on educational type sites is not going to be huge, like $1-$2 with Google or less depending on placement. However with enough traffic there certainly is money to be made.

Think of another 9 niches.... and throw them in a little idea box. keep adding ideas and monetizing techniques to the list in the following weeks till your satisfied.... At the end take out all 10 ideas and examine them and choose the one that gives u the best Return on time/investment and go from there.

When choosing a niche you have to find something that is not hardly done and also something that is likely to be very profitable. If you have found this niche and you are not quite sure where money can be made then there's your answer.

I noticed that you said posters are being sold at allposters.

If that is the case then I guess you could help them sell these posters on your site as they do have an affiliate program as far as I know. Well, I am sure I am an affiliate with them anyway, but have not sold a thing for them yet.
