I've used Sygate and Kerio personal firewalls, and I think that I like Kerio the best just because it's really light on resources, but are there any others out there that are great?

What do you think about the Personal version of Kerio and the Pay Version? Worth it to get the pay version?

For a free alternative I have been using Saftey.net which has been good so far. I've also used Sygate in the past which wasn't bad either.

Even OS X has an in-built firewall. ;)

I used to use Sygate which seemed quite good, but my computer ended up with some horrible stuff going on with it and it seems you can't get it free anymore. So I'm now using ZoneAlarm.

Was using Sygate twice then it just randomly vanished after a few months from startup and I couldn't find it again heh. That being said its good to have a router as a main firewall and then just a software based one to watch for rogue applications trying to connect out.

I'm already on mac. I must admit that I don't use a firewall or any other security software.

Yeah a Mac (OS X) is Linux so the chances of you getting any viruses are slim to none. Keep in mind you should keep current with your updates but a firewall never hurts for an added layer of protection.

Slim, but not zero: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4739432.stm

Still worth protecting yourself.

I think it's retarded that they'd go into that much detail about how the virus works; it just makes the job for virus makers way damn easier--even saying it has to do with how it treats files is telling too much.

I did use Sygate but when I got a router, its built-in firewall has been fine alongside.

Oh, and I think I have the XP built-in firewall running as well.
