View Full Version : Will having a 'hub' site help with page ranking?

I'm use my name domain (ie, www.markbridgeman.com) as a simple list of my various sites (in various stages of completion). I am also linking to this site in the footer of all my other sites.

So, my name (or 'hub') site will have links to it from 10 or so different sites, and the hub site will then point to each other site.

(erm. make sense?:))

Will this help with bringing page ranking to my new sites at all?

The wedding site has a PR of 6, the metal site 5 (or 3 for the forums), while the others have nothing as they're only new.

Yeah, this will help spread the PR over the sites listed on your "hub" page. You can send more PR to your more important sites depending on your hub-site's structure.

Chris does something similar with Jalic.

I would say yes if markbridgeman.com has a high PR...

It doesn't yet - that's what I'm hoping to accomplish ;)

If you can get it to at least a 4, then it will help eitehr way...

I guess I'll see how it is when page ranks are updated next... anyone know when that will be? Early December?

No one knows....

The last one was about the start of November...
So hopefully, early December...

It will help even if it's below a 4. Just to a lesser extent.

Well, google has hit my hub page 5 times this week, and it's indexed the index pages of most of my sites. Now I just need it to deep crawl *all* my sites, and pick up all the back links to my hub site.

I've no idea if this is what genuinely happens though :)
