Ya... I wouldn't go.

IMO events like this serve only a few purposes.

1. To pat yourself or others on the back.
2. An excuse to make tax deductible travel.
3. Meeting other people... if meeting other people were important to your business.
4. Making oodles of cash for the event runner.

I wouldn't expect to actually learn anything... anything important said is likely already known, and if not it'll be repeated in blogs and articles.

If I was focusing more on my consulting business, I'd definately be going to these. However, I'm not. I would be interested in doing a conference for small-scale web publishers..

Given out some pats on the back may land some nice backlinks... and it looks like you can goto the expo for free so just travel expenses.

Would be nice to get together with a bunch of ppl you know 'online only' too if they were going.

Just out of curiosity, if there were to be a website publisher conference/meet what do you think the best city is to have it? I think the majority of people here are in the US, but I'd personally be open to any city in the world..
