Is there a way to check if the IP address your host has just assigned you has been used before? eg. If the rumors about google checking & banning certain IPs (from spam sites) are true it is important to check if you've been issued isn't a "bad" one, right?

I don't think there is a list perse, (other than email blocklists), I would guess you'd have to do a little trial and error.
