View Full Version : gmail inserting text into emails

I have been working on an email verification system, and just saw that gmail is inserting code into the actual text of the email.

The text I send says:

If you did not make this enquiry to
domainname.com then DO NOTHING

Gmail changes this to:

If you did not make this enquiry to
domainname.com<http://domainname.com>then DO NOTHING

The pathetic thing is that the inserted '<http://domainname.com>' fills the single space that was there, so the clickable link runs on to the following 'then' (http://domainname.com/then) and it does not work anyway.

So is this after the email has been sent (presumably by PHP mail?), then you reply from your gmail account?

Yes, it is not as I thought. Someone forwarded me the email that had been sent to their gmail account, so gmail inserted the text in the outgoing, forwarded email rather than the incoming.

I suppose it is still an issue for people sending mail through gmail.

Thanks for alerting me to the difference.
