?Best manual free way to promote Affiliate Program?

Just wondering if anybody could help me out here.

I am trying my best to get my program, http://www.bsquared.com , promoted with out having to pay for Befree service and CJ or something like them. I have been trying the forum thing, how good is this really? Any ideas on another way to go about this. any help would be appreciated. I have also gone to individual sites to submit the program and that is helping. Is there a better way????

I think using the affiliate networks is generally your best bet, or contacting related webmasters directly.
