View Full Version : Google finally likes me
Well, the Strange Facts site is now fourth on google for a search for strange facts. My traffic had doubled since monday, oooohhh a whopping 120 a day but hey, that better than the 60-70 I got before and its only going up.

It's allways nice to get that jump in traffic when Google bumps up your site in their SERPs. Building traffic takes time, but if you build it they will come.
Im not saying that 80-100 uniques a day is outstanding but when I look back 4 months and I was happy when I got 30 and now I'm disappointed if I don't make 60 in a day thats quite an improvement. Especially since I don't by any means spend as much time as I should on my sites, but I'm kinda starting to kick it into gear now and get goin. My goal is about $200 a month by the end of the year, its a high goal compared to where I am now but I'll do my best to reach it.

And where are you now?
Lucky if I get $10 a month. I was letting the Halo 2 Hints site kind of die but someone joined the forum and decided to help me bring it back so I am working on reformatting that site now, hopefully if I get that site kicking I can double that income by next month.
You can do it. I went from ~$10/m to about $200/m in roughly a 6 month period. Im not doing it full time either - I have a full time job and am doing a MSc part time, so you have no excuse! Get working!
I'm putting in more and more time as the days go on so I hope its not all in vein.

You should consider expanding beyond entertainment sites -- the CPM is way higher. I have sites that can make $10 a day off of 200 pageviews, where I would have to get 10,000 pageviews to do the same on my gaming sites.
When I first started making sites I made a huge game site, 200-300 profiles of PC games released in the past year. It took me about 4 months to do, working just about every day. I wrote a few reviews and articles, one even made the front page of Slashdot. It was tons of work.
A few months later I made a site about one of the hobbies/sports I play. Its underground, I'm not going to give specifics here ;) I wrote all of the content in 2 days. That was it. That site makes just as much as my game site right now.

Me too. I feel like Google's ripping me off at the moment to be honest. I advertise using adwords, and I know that the ads displayed on my sites should be earning me far more than they are. Can't wait for adsense to get some serious competition!
I was realizing this about the entertainment sites. I've been working my brain trying to think of a good non gaming site to make for about the past week but there is just so much competition out there I dont know what to make.

I recently changed some placement and increased my adsense earnings a good deal, A massive graphical vonage campaign is helping though too I hink.
I went from an ecpm of $.25 to over $1.00

Doug if you keep at it $200/month shouldn't really be a problem.
Thanks for all the support, if I reach my goal of $200/month by the end of this year, I'll be sure to let you all know.

Hopefully you can start a few more sites that can help you reach your goal sooner than the end of the year.
Personally, I've been at it for 9 years, and am yet to make that much money. You're more ambitious than I, though.
I have a few Ideas that I plan to act on. My biggest problem is finding the time to actually work on the sites. IT seems to be really scarce lately.
