Yahoo Listing

I was thinking about trying for a free yahoo listing. When they say non commercial does that mean non profit, no ads, no affiliates etc.

I got my carbohydrate counter site listed for free and that has ads on it. It's worth a go.

I think by commercial they mean, trying to sell products. But obviously if you have prominent affiliate stuff, then they may turn you down for being too commercial. On the other hand if you offer some good information then they may list you anyway. Like I say, it's worth a try.

Well, it *sometimes* works. The Yahoo directory doesn't have the manpower that DMOZ has, and so it can take AGES to get listed - if at all. It seems to be harder than DMOZ, and you know how hard it can be getting listed there! :)

Longer than DMOZ??? WOW I am sitting on about 18 months right now and it hasn't budged.

well, it obviously depends on how active your editors are or if you even have one for your category.

One sneaky thing I do is check the referrer and if its a yahoo or dmoz editor (referring being an editing backend url) I turn off popunders and another invasive ads.

I believe its editors.dmoz.org and surf.yahoo.com maybe its dmoz.org/editors/ though.

And yes, its worth the cash for Yahoo.
