View Full Version : Quoting books and sites

I want to build a site where the content is to be found in many different books, encyclopaedias and other sites. I thought I would cite every source and link to the sites where I've borrowed information.
However, I am a little worried that some of the publishers might not like it. It's not going to be particularly competitive with the other sources. Perhaps a little, but that's not the intentions.
Do you guys know what I can and cannot do?

Nothing can prevent complaints, but some of it would be protected under fair use.
Fair use is subjective though, there is no set definition. Generally though you could use one paragraph from an article, a line from a poem, a phrase from a TV show, etc.

You could also work primarily off of public domain books. Some can be found on Jessie's site (http://public-domain-content.com/)!! :D:D:D:D

I think your problem calls for some legal solutions which an attorney is a much certified authority. Who knows these publishers may sue you for using their materials. Its always better to stay on the safe side.
