I switched to Cingular because of alluring promises of no roaming charges. I was told by a deceptive sales person, that with the nation wide plan that my phone would not work outside of my GSM coverage area, and therefore I would never get roaming charges. What a load of BS!!! I placed some calls along the upper Texas coast, and was charged outragous roaming charges. They said my calls were picked up from an offshore tower, and I was being billed for making calls from Mexico. They refused to drop the charges. Customers have no way of knowing this in advance of making calls....there's no way to know where your calls are being placed through. Its a big scam to rip off innocent customers. My advise to anyone reading this, is to stay away from Cingular. They've had poor customer support, wont wave unfair charges, and in general have inferior cellular service. In the past probably about 40% of my cell calls are just dropped, or I cant get reception at all. This is the worst cell service I've had the displeasure of dealing with. They will lie to you and rip you off any chance they get!!!
