Which Control Panel do you prefer?
I like cPanel, but I haven't tried any of the others.

Cpanel is the easiest to upgrade.

Cpanel.
Only other i've used is Plesk which was very slow and didn't have nearly as many options as Cpanel.
It may however be much better but i'm sticking with Cpanel.

But as far as usablity cpanel pwnz.
Cpanel. Plesk wasn't that bad but I don't think it had as many options.

I had and Ensim control panel on my first hosting account. It was soo slow and cumbersome compared to Cpanel. Cpanel gets my vote as well

WHM/Cpanel - easiest I've used. I've only used the Raq control panel before, which doesn't really compare to anything anymore.

Cpanel. The only other I've used in Webmin, which just doesn't cut it (I used shell more than webmin when I had it!).
cPanel, have only used Plesk otherwise, but yes Plesk seems to have a lot less options - perhaps easier to start with though...

I like cPanel for simplicity. I've used Plesk on client's servers and it takes a bit of getting used to. Quite nice once familiar with though. If I had the option I would go for cpanel anyway.

Plesk does not have less option, at least Plesk 7.5.1 Reloaded does not, but it is a tad slower then cPanel. Plesk has a better looking interface then cPanel in my opinion.
But what features do you really need? I uninstalled Plesk because I messed it up, and now use webmin... webmin is fast as hell but it does have a little learning curve and does not make the most sense sometimes.
are there any other free control panels

I just love Cpanel, it's really really damn easy to use. I've used a few things up there, and they just don't compete with how easy and feature-filled it is IMHO--though I guess I tried them after being used to Cpanel.
What theme does everyone use? It seems to be more than just different layout, the options change etc as well right?
I use bluelagoon.

I think there is one called FreeBSD or something like that (never used it though).

FreeBSD is more than just a control panel. It's a Linux variant.
I use blue lagoon too.

I dont want to argue, but FreeBSD is very different then Linux. FreeBSD is built off a very different system and is much faster in many processes except database processing.
FreeBSD is not Linux but it can run POSIX compaitable Linux programs and can run programs that they have scripts to make the source code compatiable with FreeBSD.
The main difference is the GPL vs BSD style licensing.
Yahoo uses FreeBSD for its servers. MacOS X is based of FreeBSD.

I wont disagree, you're right. :) I wasn't certain, I just assumed it was a Linux variant as I've heard it linked with Linux a number of times.

My newest server (about a month old now) has Directadmin and now I'm a Directadmin fan all the way. No question about it.

I use cpanel just like the majority here. I really like it, it's simple and practical. Speaking of FreeBSD, I think it's an operating system, some people say Windows XP is a FreeBSD rip-off.

Have you used PLESK lately? When was the last time you used it?

I think your thinking of Mac OS X as the FreeBSD ripoff, saying Win XP is a FreeBSD ripoff would be crazy talk.
I had never used the quote="name", I hope I did it properly. :)

BTW I change my vote for favorite control panel to PLESK. The Reloaded Series is just plain awesome.

Plesk is buggy crap. Sorry man nothing but grief, broken feature after broken feature, and they expect you to PAY them to fix it.

If you view the list at distrowatch.com I think pretty much everybody
can get confused.

I'm using cpanel as well, but I would rather have something way simpler
without all the bells and whistles. Just apache / php / mysql and a button
to upgrade them.

webmin? That is quite simple in regards to features. I used that for a while, then I went back to Plesk.
