Hey guys.
Do you guys know where I can find a php code that would tell me a visitor's location in the US from the IP?
Thanks, Abel

you could buy: MaxMind GeoIP Region Database
http://www.maxmind.com/app/region
then you can have a look at the source of: http://phpadsnew.com/two/ for the php details on how to use it...
what you want to do doesn't work without some kind of IP to Region database.

Thanks.
I had a feeling it wouldn't be free. I will search for free resources and will let you guys know if I find any.

This isn't perfect though you know? For instance all AOL members will show up as Virginia.

That's interesting. I wonder if AOL users always get geotargetted AdSense ads for local businesses in virginia...

I have also seen instances of the same AOL IP coming to my site from many different search terms (I am talking about more than 600). I use dial-up right now and even though I am in Utah, my location shows as California.

Well if they are using AOL, they are definitely virgins to the internet.

er, if you want to find people in the US ask the FBI. I am sure they would be happy to find them for you.
