Should we do Keyword Research for Blogs?

Apart from using our target keywords in the respective blog, should we do keyword research to add more relevant keywords too?

Will it be helpful for SEO or a bad idea?

Not necessarily all the time but you can add a few LSI in some blogs along with your target keywords.
