Looking into http://www.virgingalactic.com and the technology behind it, it does seem likely that it will only be a few years before we can travel into space for around $0.25 million... That falls well within a few of our members yearly income, and I'm sure alot of the rest of us will be earnings that very soon, so who would want to go on such a trip? I would definatly want to go.

After people have demonstrated that it is safe I may be interested, but until then, a trip to Portugal every now and again is fine with me :)

i would be interested. If I could afford it, I think it would be very worthwhile.

I'd love to go, but not quite that soon(unless things change). I don't think space tourism will be much of a profit making area, I would imagine mining and producing stuff in zero gravity/more sunlight to be bigger long term money makers. What I am surprised is, that it has taken(still is) so long.

If the Russians had not realised the negative economic impact their space program on their communist states, by 1980 we would have landed on Mars and have commercial trips to the moon. I think their is a docu-drama on BBC about that coming soon...

I'd go. And it's only in my dreams that I'd earn that yearly.

And let's not forget living expenses.

I'd go if they bought down the price a little and increased the time in space (its only currently planned to be a few minutes?).

Cheers...

Yeah - why pay for a holiday to the Bahamas if they only let you dip your toes in the water before flying you home?;)

agreed. I dont think its amazing for just a few mins of weightless ness, its not even properly into space (i suppose it depends on the defined edge of the atomsphere). A trip to the moon however would be far better value for money :D still dont get why some multi-billionaire hasn't attempted this one yet. Fingers crossed that sir richards plan inspires a few others to take the risk and head beyond the sky!

Well another space race might start soon as China became the third country to launch someone into space, and looks like it could become a world super power in the next 50 years (the only current superpower is the USA).

china will never be a superpower until they are able to maintain a navy. Right now they cannot move thier troops anywhere. I dont believe they can invade Taiwan even if they wanted to
