They have a coupon, just for today, for $500 off a laptop.

Do they ship internationally?

Chris

I don't know.

Mike

Woah, that certainly is a coupon. Shame they couldn't do it when I had some spare cash about.

MarkB

But they don't ship to the UK ;)

Mike

But I know a few people in the US, so next time I visit, I'd just take it back with me ;)

I'm sure I could get Weeks or Gersitz to recieve it and ship it too much for not much...

Chris

Too late, they cancelled the coupon. It was more effective than they imagined and they could not handle the volume.

If you were to sell a $1000 laptop, with the $500 coupon, would your commission be based on $1000 or the net income to Dell, ie $500?

incka
10-07-2004, 12:38 PM
On your thing it would be $500, however the minimum price of these laptops is $1500 according to the email with the coupon in I got from dell.

OK, I was using the $1k to keep the maths simple!

i probably will go with an IBM x40 or something. My dad has that and it is really thin and swift... I like IBM but Dell makes a decent laptop.. Now for a desktop I would not buy a prebuilt one. I would build myself.

Wow, to bad. I would have liked to look into it.

Chris, who issues these coupons? Are they directly from Dell? or is there a program you are in?

incka

Dell on Linkshare.

michael_gersitz
10-10-2004, 04:26 PM
Linkshare, interesting article about them in last months Revenue Magazine. Once I get bigger I will start expanding to more networks. Maybe Linkshare.

2 more quite large (but not as large) coupons coming tomorrow.

is the arena competitive for coupon sites? Are coupons a profitable venture?

incka
10-12-2004, 01:13 PM
Extremly competative. Just look at the PR for the top sites when you search for 'amazon coupons' and 'dell coupons'.

michael_gersitz

I think I saw a post where he said it was one of his top earners though... ;)

incka
10-12-2004, 11:31 PM
Yes, Chirs has said that in profit terms it is about equal to his ecommerce site somewhere or other...

I think if you create a general coupon site you've got no chance, but if you do something extra...

I'm beginning to think Chris has more than one coupon site, because SavvyShopping is link exchaning with a site with the same coupons and the whois data has Whois by Proxy Inc protection on it... Perhaps it is just coinsidence though...

-Nevermind-

Chris

Ya, I started a second one. The thing is for the last 6 months or so two of the top ranked sites each have 2 sites. One guy (xpcoupons xpdeals) doesn't even try to make them seem seperate. Google obviously doesn't care and I'm tired of being beat in the rankings.

incka
10-13-2004, 08:08 AM
Was domain by proxy incase google looks at whois data?

Chris
10-13-2004, 08:14 AM
Just in case.

Chris
10-13-2004, 02:43 PM
$500 off an inspiron was nice, but they're having 40% off high end desktops tommorow..... I'm very tempted.

Yoda
10-13-2004, 02:50 PM
What do they consider to be "high end," in this case?

michael_gersitz
10-13-2004, 02:55 PM
Can you post some examples?

Chris
10-13-2004, 03:46 PM
30% off $999 or more, 40% off $2499 or more.

Plus they are combinable with other site deals, and there will be new site deals tommorow.

Basically you can get the best consumer processor in the world (or close to it, the best Intel anyway), the best consumer graphics card in the world and all the bells and whistles and it'll be under $2k.

does alienware have any coupons? I would like one on that overclocked crazy PC...

Chris
10-13-2004, 04:37 PM
Alienware does not compete on a price model.

Chris
