Pop Imap

hey I just downloaded the mozilla thunder bird but I dont understand the setting part first you have to choose either Imap or Pop, I have a regular yahoo account so what do I chose? Then the Incomming server whats that? Then SMPT server name whats that?

P.S I use yahoo regular service.

A Yahoo account is primarily web based email service - not POP or IMAP. When you have a domain name + hosting you generally will be able to setup emails under your domain name.

It is possible to download mail from web based services like Yahoo, some charge and I believe Yahoo fall into that category still - but you can using a program like YahooPOPS (http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/) to download it from free.

Do they allow this? Is it even possible? I know with hotmail they dont use the standard Imap/Pop protocols. You can only log on to hotmail using a special capability of Outlook I think.
