Hostony don't sell extra IP addresses.
So I want a server somewhere else. CPANEL needed. Under $200 a month. 1000mb transfers monthly. 512mb min. 1.5ghz min.
I've found a few nice ones at EV1, but where can I get support if something goes wrong? Is there any management companies anyone can recommend. Is it easy to transfer files between dedicated servers?

Oh, and when you buy extra IPs at ev1 do they have different class C codes?

Here are some specs for the cheapest dedicated at httpme.com which is fully managed and monitored, hooked up to alertra.com and checked every five minutes with everything included, including spam and usage monitoring, but it's $299 so more than what you want to pay. Extra IPs are 50cents per month.
P4 2.8GHZ
1GB RAM
two 80GB hard drives (Western Digital 8MB cache)
cPanel/Webhost Manager
300 GB bandwidth
8 IPs
Full Server Management
$299/month + setup fee

I've been with BurstNet (www.nocster.com) for something like a year now. They are managed servers and fit all your other specifications. :)

There screenshot of CPANEL isn't the CPANEL I'm using.
Probably just a different skin?

That's just a different skin I think, I'm sure I've used it on another hosting service.

Well only Andy can say for sure...

Yeah that is just an old old old screenshot of Cpanel. Take a screenshot of the one you are using and i'll tell you if it is the default.

Um, Shawn Weeks is recommending ServerMatrix...

They seem alright. Go with either ServerMatrix, Ev1 or BurstNET/Nocster - you can't really go wrong.
I think SM and Ev1 may even have better network infrastructure.

I use simpli.biz and couldn't be happier. Not sure on the IPs thing, is that purely for SEO purposes?

Yeah. I'm just about 100% sure google looks at IPs.

Yeah but how it affects their algo is the question :)

I've got one at ServerMatrix. Thanks for recommendation Shawn Weeks. After three months it will save me $50 a month (It saves me that from the start, but the set up fee is $150).
Looks like I will be doing a lot of uploading and downloading in the coming week.

No, you don't have to do any uploading or downloading.
If you go to the "Transfer Site" option on WHM at ServerMatrix, simply enter in the username/password to your old site, and it'll transfer everything over: MySQL databases, e-mail, files, etc.
You can do this with all of your sites.
That's a great feature, if ever I get/need a server i'll consider them :)

Just a note with the transfer function - if any mySQL tables are INNODB types, they won't be copied over. Chances are you use the default though. :)

I'm wanting to reorganise my main account - I've got loads of sites on the same account.
I'll do this with my sites not on my main account though.

Most good web hosts do things like c-panel and e-mail migrations for their customers.

Sorry to drag up an old topic but I'm interested to hear how the move to servermatrix went. How is there support/network?
