Spoofing Mediapartners-Google?

I've had a few hits come to my sites with the Mediapartners-Google user agent, but it's not the typical UA string, nor does it come from a crawler(x).googlebot.com hostname. As most know the Adsense crawler uses the UA of:

Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

But these are just Mediapartners-Google/2.1 from varied IP addresses.

Is this just people spoofing the agent, or is something else triggering this?

It turns out it is Google, it's just identified incorrectly for some reason. I just added new pages to a site and this IP/UA showed up immediately and hit all the new pages.

The latest one was 64.233.173.235 - Mediapartners-Google/2.1. At least on this site it's been there 4 times, but I don't know if it has other IPs. And I'm not sure why the UA string isn't complete as usual.
