I'm going to be more specific - If you do no one, and I mean no one, will visit your site again or buy things off it if they have sound on their computer when they visit - Background music is totally unprofessional.
I wouldn't say no one would buy anything off it, as Hostony has background music :)
But for a small site, it's not a good idea to put background music on.

I meant midi background music, background music in flash is ok (Shawn Weeks - Don't argue as the company you work for's site has flash background music)
ok thank's alot people:)but i just want a on and off button...so people can turn the music on and off if they want the music or not..please?

Why, why did you tell him how. Argh. I never visit a page with "music" twice. I mean, flash sounds are one thing, but archiac midi music, you've got to be kidding me.

I even get annoyed by just flash sounds, let alone midi music. :)

Not to mention the extra loading time for your visitors and the extra bandwith cost for you.

It is good to know how though, sinse you could have a page that needs it (look how many searches 'midis' gets a day...)
