I think you need to slow down a bit. Get comfortable with running a basic website on a proper server with a proper domain name first.

You need a server to host anything. Whether its a proper web host, a free host (like geocities) or your own computer - they're all servers.

You will need a server that has a server side scripting language though, like PHP or ASP - you are unlikely to get this with a free host.

ASP and PHP and languages like HTML, use dreamweaver to write them or just notepad.
