http://www.4dictionary.com/

Nice simple phpBB style design, perl database of over a million definitions, cool domain, if I could make love to a site this would be the one ;)

What do you think?

You were asking if it was search engine friendly in another thread... I think that Google can pick up the queries, but how will it find all of the definition pages? Nothing is linking to them. If you want the site to be spidered, you'll need to set up a page (or pages) that links to each word. Sort of like a sitemap.

EDIT: I looked up incka and nothing came up. I started to add my definition of what I think it means, but then I decided not to... :) I thought I'd leave you the opportunity to define yourself.

incka - nice layout. What is the primary keyword(s) you are targetting - just the word "dictionary" by itself?

Just the word dictionary, when I'm going to make a homepage content thing with word games and links to words, etc, and then I'll do SEO on that bit.

Good work, that looks really professional. Need to tweak the spelling here though : http://www.4dictionary.com/help/linking - second 'will' should be 'with' I think..

Thanks for finding that, I'll update when I get back on a computer that can connect to phpMyAdmin...

Nice design & domain... will be interesting to see how this one goes, too.

I'm working on making some sites to get PR, then I'm going to link to this site with the text 'Dictionary' to see how I go on the SERPs. I'm hoping google ignores numbers in URLs...

Im not so sure it does.

Check this search : 4dictionary (http://www.google.com/search?q=4dictionary&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8)

The top result (when I searched), '4dictionary' is picked up in a filename. Plus its #1 for '4dictionary' without that text on the page.

incka - Did you consider targetting more specific dictionary phrases that mean the same thing that would still produce massive traffic if you were #1 on Google?

It seems silly to try and compete on the word dictionary... what about online dictionary? It'd still be extremely hard to compete, but if you focused on having most of your inbound links as 'Online Dictionary' instead of just Dictionary, you might have a chance in the long run.

If I were you, I'd look into targeting "definition" or "define" on all of the word definition pages. That way, the appropriate page would show up in the results anytime someone searches for <word> definition.

Westech - thats a very good idea...

Trouble is getting all the pages indexed...

Good plan, jus need to get em all indexed - you could set up the mother of all site maps :)

Yea, just get a database with every word in the dictionary in, should be made pretty easy then ;)

I'm going for 'dictionary', and I'll get to the top. Wait and see, I'll be the Rupert Murdoch of the website publishing world in a few years...

How will you get to the top? By getting 13,000 inbound links and manually asking each person to link with the words "Dictionary" instead of "4Dictionary"?

That's not my plan, I won't reveal my plan, but I have it all mapped out... It might take alot to get past dictionary.com, but remember before this last update it was PR7, so it isn't a high PR8...

Still waiting to see that PR 7 that you said you can get! :)
