We should have monthly competitions, only WP members should be able to compete....
Any thoughts?

I like the idea, but if it was revenue Chris would always win unless we got Mr. iDownload.com posting...
And if it was posts incka would always win. Just imagine what lengths he would go to to post more :D

I just enjoy posting...
Michael Gersitz suggests: Member referrals, seo quiz.
I suggest: Fastclick earnings, articles got onto WP in that month.

Any type of competition that we can talk about and will improve our skills, stuff we can learn from, stuff that build up a better forum.
i.e.
Like a competition on writing the best review of Azoogle, A template contest (I would give free advertising to the winner and display the templates on my sites),
the winner would get his article on WP, or whatever we pick out as a prize.
Stuff like that. Other forums do it...

I actualy would enjoy a competition to see who improves the most in a month page impressions, that way it is fair for every one. And we can post out webalizer or any stat programs pic to see who improves the most.

Only in percent though...
Yeah monthly percentage increase in earnings too?

How about most annoying member - I would win that...
Member most want to get rid of - me...

Smartest Member...
Someone could set up a web quiz...
The best premise for a contest I could think of would have Chris issuing contestants topics and challenging them to build the best-looking, most-fuctional, best-optimized site they can on them, then deciding which is best overall.

I like Yodas idea.
If we did best sites overall Yoda would win :)

A competition would not be of past things. We would all have to build new sites on certain topics... But that would be to hard, and if you lost, you would be pretty mad..
I dont think we should go out of our normal way of web building for a competition.
I certainly wouldnt bother - dont have enough time to do all the sites I have now
I think just percentage increase in a few things.

Michael - Perhaps us all making a site on a certain area, lets say advice (health advice, debt advice, business advice) but not on specific topics (call conferences, poker tips, house buying, mesothelomia, etc)
I don't think making a site for a topic is a good idea at all. You will have to give a lot of time, and pay for a domain.
The time spent would do much better on your own sites.

Making a whole new site would be to much work for any of us.
Writing an article or making a logo wouldn't be much of a strain, yet still have some diffulculty.
Perhaps a logo would be ok.

I wouldn't do logos or articles as I've got too much with my sites to do. I would however do sites if they could be on a broad category (advice, entertainment, AWS)...
So you wouldn't do a single article or logo, but you would do a whole site? Right.

But this WOULD be our own site. We could be given a topic that's suitable for SEO optimization and profit. It wouldn't be "make a site about how pretty daffodils are."

Yoda - That's what I meant, but we should do not one topic for all as 10 competiting sites amoung friends will cause fall outs...
BTW: If yoda and mike were compeiting on conference calls sites Yoda would win on design & SEO, but mike would win on domain.

That wouldn't be so bad. You'd have to be allocated a load of topics though, because as Sean says, it just wouldn't work otherwise.
Wouldnt work full stop.
I'm not gonna make a website to win a competition. Im gonna make a website because I want to, and to make profit.
I've gotta say that anything other than percentage increase in some stuff etc is kinda sad. Think about it. Making a good website takes hours and hours. Doing all that for a competition with a few people over the internet??
Any competitions should be to motivate people etc to do better.
