I had 45 backlinks to my website and I started to rank good on my website.
Then I lost half of my backlinks but they are still there and some time's i get
the back does anyone know why?

How are you detecting these backlinks?
Google's public link search for instance does not show all links on purpose.

I used google webmaster tools and yahoo site explorer, all the links are still where I put them and where there at one time but now there not and my page rank droped.

Well, it could be that some of the sites you had links from were deindexed or banned or penalized for some reason. Google Webmaster Central should be pretty accurate with link counts.

Try out seoquake extension for your browser. It does wonders and its free and easy to use. (shows up on the bottom right of mozilla)

Are you counting backlinks with yahoo or google?

maybe, google just banned that thing.
