Now I am having problems with some computers requiring a user name and password to the server before downloading the file. I must have it all screwed up.

How about if I start from the beginning....

How do you set up a file to be downloaded from a website?

You should just be able to link to the file and have it be downloaded.

Try making it a zip file and see if that helps.

Unless you're trying to download it via FTP rather than HTTP I can't imagine why this would be happening.
