Is that right?

I am only assuming based on the fact that in the country drop down box on the application form neither UK, Britain or England is listed, however, many weird any wonderful places are.

I cannot find any specific mention in any of the documentation on the site.

Thanks

Dan

Yeh I couldn't find it when I first looked either, it's not very clearly stated.

Another question. I have looked at the ways to integrate SF but one option i snot clear.

On my site I have a link at he bottom of internal search results saying "Try this search on Google". Is i possible with SF so that that changes to "Try this search on the web", with a link containing my id and the search terms appended with a link to SF?

Thanks

Dan

Yes Dan, I sort of do that on IDDB.org

Ah neat. I see you present a search box already containing the code.

I switched on my internal site search logging and was surprised by just how much this feature gets used soI thought that might be a good idea. Especially as my site is relatively new and therefore a good %age of searches do not bring any results.

Just got accepted. Chris, I take you had to modify the HTML code for the search box inorder to do what you have done? Thats allowed?

Yes. You can modify the result page appearance too.

Do they pay any other way than PayPal, I'm not a big fan of paypal...

Corporate check, Paypal or in special circumstances a wire was what I remeber seeing.

Corporate Check? Is that one of those 1.5 metre by 0.7 metre things?

;) Be cool if it was. I have always wanted one of the novelty oversized cheques.

SF integration is very easy although some of the HTML is a little suspect. I can't get it to show any of the colours I chose on the Wizard for fonts.

Really!?! :p

What is SF like for reporting, realtime or delayed?

Hmm, on my home ISP I kept seeing results for the feeds but my friend said he saw nothing.

I come into work today I am suffering the same symptoms as him. No results at all.

A bit concerned as I have only made $0.04 so far.

I think SearchFeed uses geocoding to determine whether to display results. If you're outside of the US and Canada, I think there's a good chance you won't see any results.

Also, I wanted to mention that you should look into using their XML feed. I did this and it's very easy to use and allows you to format the results however you'd like.

Yeah I was thinking about that, thanks for the suggestion. :)

With regard to the geo thing, both ISPs are UK however withone I saw results and one I did not.

I see them with BT Broadband, but not at school.

Weird huh? I don't see them with BT, but do with NTL.

Yeah. They should do UK only ads and international ads too. I think Chris would agree as he would make more with online-literature if they did.

Hmm first impressions are not great. Nothing to do with SF perse, but my content/type of site/users.

I realise this is a fairly niche area but it does not seem to be performing. Searches seem to be numerous (considering the site is only a month or two old and is only averaging 250 uniques a day) however percentages of searches which actually result in click through are less that 10%.

I think the problem is the types of searches my users will be conducting are not going to produce very relevant or results or even any results at all as they are too specific.

I think I am going to pull it, or maybe in the future use the feeds to integrate it in such a way as it does not monopolise the whole "Search the Web" Feature, by using limited sponsored results with a google SERPs page.

Far too much content to be written to spend time on that now though.

Thanks for all the help on this people.

You can attract alot of advertisers though. I'm still earning from search feed even though I don't have it on my account as I referred 3 advertisers...

Cheeky! I might try that.
