I own OrlandoForums.com
We do just under 5,000,000 page views per month and about 1000 individual visits per day
I applied to TribalFusion, FastClick, and Burst! and was rejected to all 3
I do have google ads up but they wont let me put the ad up on any pages except actual threads. They made me take them down from the homepage, forum index, and inside the forums...everywhere except the actual thread
I told them I didnt know why since every other forum did it but they didnt care and made me take it down.
I went from $4-$6/day to <$1 a day
What can I do to bring some income into the site?

Does that 5 million impressions include redirects?

I'm going to have to suggest popups if you want advertising...
You could also try 'donate to us' thing with amazon or paypal.

I won't to popups
I would do 1 popunder per visit but it would have to be worth it
Whats a redirect?

oh also, its not a matter of making money on the site at all. I just want to make more money on the site strictly for page views
I sell banner space right now and after the redesign, will have a lot of spots to sell non-ratating ads. I would just like something I could get a bit more money from on the site
Are you sure you are getting 5,000,000 page views a month? Have looked at ur forum, and 5m sounds like a hell of a lot for a forum of that size...
Just my thought, I may well be wrong ;)

1000 uniques a day and 5m per month. That sounds a bit odd.
You may be counting hits as impressions, they are not the same thing.
Also on a forum daily uniques are not near as important as monthly uniques (if the same people are visiting daily).

i specified that it was 1000 unique visits and 5million page views
I can do a screen shot of the tracking software for any nonbelievers

so then the 4.9 mil "Hits" per month is what? I called it page views because when people say hits, most people think individual visits

In pages. I get about 40 mil 'hits' per month... So what... Don't say hits are pageviews.

could someone clear it up for me, exactly what each thing means in one, clear post so I can understand it and get back on topic?

Look at "Visits" and "Pages", ignore the rest.
For February, you received appoximately 28,000 visits and 78,000 page views. Your visitors clicked on an average of 2.8 pages when they came to your site (page views divided by visits).

To make things clear, a hit is any file which is called. Say you have a page which has 20 images on it and calls one css file. You can think of that as 22 hits : the page, the css and the 20 images.

What is the "Files" column in Webalizer reports?
truenemy00, 4.9m is the hits number. Hits are requests for any file, e.g. images, CSS files, JS etc.
'Pages' is the number you need to watch. These are actual requests for pages.

Files are the fully downloaded files I think...

What if the server says the file is not-modifed, and the browser then uses a cached version? This would count as a 'hit' wouldnt it, but not a downloaded file?

Webalizer is crappy. This always happens, people don't know what the terms mean and they get confused. Its why I don't use webalizer.
Anyways -- I believe visits might just be sessions as well, not even uniques.
Yes r2d2, a hit is any request to a web server that is handled by Apache. It is basically the number of lines in your log file.
yeah, truenemy00, webalizer is very confusing. my host recently added awstats and i am very pleased.
