My wife is pregnant, the baby should be born at the end of May. We're very happy, but... the time I know is going to be an issue. I've been going on a home improvement binge since I found out, doing all the projects I apparently forsee being unable to do once we have a newborn. I'm not as worried about work stuff because typing isn't quite as problematic as say... using a power saw, when you have a sleeping baby.
Congratulations Chris - sounds like you're nest building :)
Kids are cool
Woo... congratulations Chris :)

Congratulations!
I'm sure you don't need to worry about work stuff - most of your sites run themselves...
Just remember to take photos of the home improvement to make a new site with when you've got more typing time again!

predictably enough I considered doing a blog, but really the competition on the home improvement niche is out of this world.

Congratulations Chris.
Don't spend all your time DIY'ing - Start building up your sleep reserves as well!
and brush up on your nursery rhymes - all I could think of was Hotel California (yes, by the eagles) much to the amusement of all of the in laws sat close by
Congratulations. You do realize your life as you have known it is coming to an end. In a few years your favorite financial news channel will be replaced with cartoons with square sponges.

Congratulations, Chris. Just remember that your first child makes you a father, your second makes you a parent.

Successfully raising your child just might make you a grandfather.;)

At which point you get to laugh at your kids, point at them and say "See!!! I Told You So!!!" while kicking back and drinking a beer with your kid.

The trick is to not do a Homer Simpson to your kids when they do the things that will make you say "I told you so," when their kids do it so that you can actually have grandchildren.:p
Congratulations.
I wish you both the best.

Congratulations Chris! Your life is about to change in a big (but wonderful) way. It's pretty tough at first, but just keep in mind that they get easier and less demanding after the first 6 months or so. :)
If you need any tips on how to successfully work at home with a kid screaming and running around let me know. I'm finally starting to get it figured out!
I just saw this post! Congrats, Chris! Life WILL change ... Just put your family first and things will work out.
Any ideas on names, yet?

Wow! I'm late. Congrats Chris.
As a father of two little girls, a 3 year old and a 6 month old, I can honestly tell you that your life if going to get a lot better. Children fill in the missing pieces in your life and really put everything into perspective. I have no idea what I did with my time before my kids came along.
You're starting an amazing journey my friend. God bless!

Water broke at 2, no hard contractions, no pain. She is sitting reading, and I'm obviously on my laptop.

Baby was born at 3:26 AM last night, labor did get more difficult up around hour 18.
Finnigan weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces, and is 20.5 inches long.
He pooped prior to exit and then apparently breathed in some of the then poopy liquid, there is a M-word term for it, and its pretty common (10-20% of babies, especially those post due) but it did require them to bring him to the NICU as a precaution so we haven't really gotten to hold him yet. He is doing fine, breathing very well, even on his own when he rips the little thing off (fiesty), so he shouldn't have to stay up there long. They also started IV antibiotics just in case.
Mom is doing really good. Very little bleeding, only a little tearing, and much to her joy, no stretchmarks. Everyone should be able to go home on Sunday. I'm home now and took a nap, did some business stuff I needed to get done, now I'll go for a run, shower, and head back in.

The baby is a boy.
Chris, do you have any updates? How are the baby and new mother doing? (Well, I hope.)

Doing well and growing like crazy. This kid is going to be huge, he is shooting up the growth chart at the pediatricians office. He is definitely taking after his tall dad and not his average height mom.
The feedings and sleepings are of course rough, and the baby has some reflux we think so that complicates things. He has been sleeping in his car seat to stay more upright at night. Other than that things are going good and we can't wait until he can sleep through the night.

Good to hear Chris. Maybe a non-issue by now but both my kids had reflux and prevacid was a life saver. Ask your ped if you don't have it already, very common. Also a book or two under one side of the crib can do the trick on what reflux they have. Just need a couple degrees of incline to help things out. ;)
Glad to hear things are going well!
